Walt Disney World Fairy Tale Weddings - Dessert Party Locations

Here's the place for information about the dessert party locations for Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings at Walt Disney World, including pricing.

All prices on this page are subject to change at any time. Unless otherwise indicated, prices do not include 20% service charge on catering plus 6.5% sales tax, which is applied to all services, catering, site rental fees, optional "enhancements," service charges and other fees.

IllumiNations or Fantasmic! Dessert Parties

An IllumiNations Dessert Party or Fantasmic! Dessert Party is a private event for your group that gives you an excellent view of the fireworks and laser light spectaculars offered nightly. IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth takes place in the middle of World Showcase in Epcot. The Fantasmic! show is held in a special amphitheater at Disney-MGM Studios.

  • For an IllumiNations Dessert Party, your group is admitted to Epcot at about 8:30 pm. IllumiNations starts at 9:00 pm and runs about 12 minutes. Your event concludes about 9:30 pm. During the party, your guests will enjoy a buffet of delicious desserts and drinks.

  • For a Fantasmic! Dessert Party, your group is admitted to Disney-MGM Studios at about 30 minutes before the park closes. The Fantasmic! show usually starts around the time of "official" park closing (which varies seasonally) and runs about 25 minutes. Your event concludes about 30 minutes after the show ends. During the party, your guests will enjoy a buffet of delicious desserts and drinks.

Either of these events are an unusual and memorable way to celebrate your wedding. Most people who book these parties do so in addition to a regular reception, though I believe they can substitute for a dinner reception, as long as you still meet your overall Custom Wedding minimum expenditure. So you could choose to have an elaborate Dessert Party as your reception and skip the breakfast, lunch or dinner reception. Some of these locations also allow you to do a buffet that could serve as a light dinner or cocktail reception.

The minimum catering cost for a dessert party is $22 (plus service charge and tax) per person. There is also a venue rental fee (see each location for details) and some locations also have an overall food and beverage minimum. (You must meet both minimums.) A viewing fee applies for each guest who does not have a theme park ticket for entry that evening. At some locations that do not already have seating, chairs and/or tables can be set up for an extra fee.

There are quite a few other dessert packages at higher price points, ranging up to $36 per person, plus service charge and tax. For an extra fee per person, you can add flambé desserts, fruit skewers, souffles, chocolate shots, smoothies and lots more.

You can also add alcoholic beverages if you wish. They are offered in packages (for example, an hour of soft drinks, juices, water, beer and house wine for a flat rate per person) or billed by the drink. A "cordials and liqueurs" package is also available.

Dessert Parties can be set up through your Wedding Coordinator. There are quite a few locations available to those having Custom Weddings (see below). Your Coordinator will try to match the size of your group with an appropriate location.

Disney-MGM Studios - Small Patio

Capacity of the Small Patio is 40 guests maximum.

Food and beverage are provided by the Disney-MGM Studios Catering department.

Disney-MGM Studios - Large Patio

Capacity of the Large Patio is 40 guests minimum, 80 guests maximum.

Food and beverage are provided by the Disney-MGM Studios Catering department.

Capacity of the Small & Large Patios combined is 80 guests minimum, 150 guests maximum.

Food and beverage are provided by the Disney-MGM Studios Catering department.

Epcot - French Island Upper Terrace

Capacity of the French Island Upper Terrace is 50 guests minimum and approximately 150 guests maximum.

In addition to desserts, cold food items and a limited number of hot items can be served at this location. Food and beverage are provided by the Epcot Catering department.

All talent performing within this area must fit the theming of the area and must be approved by Epcot and secured by Walt Disney Entertainment through your Wedding Planner. All floral and décor items must be provided by Disney. Disney charter bus transportation is required to use this venue, at a minimum cost of $440 per bus (each bus carries about 47 people).
