The Basics
Wishes Collection events are the "sky's the limit"
option for those who want to be married in grand style
at Walt Disney World Resort. The absolute minimum cost
is $10,000 (plus service charge and sales tax), and
it can go up, up, up from there!
Wishes Collection events can be as small as 10 guests.
Various dollar minimums apply, depending on the locations
and dates you choose. You are also required to guarantee
a minimum number of "room nights" at the Disney
resorts.
Overall Minimum Expenditure (for all locations
except Magic Kingdom)
First, determine in what "season" you wish to hold your event:
- Premium Season - October, November, May, June
- Regular Season - March, April, July, December
- Low Season - January, February, August, September
2008 pricing is as follows:
-
For Monday through Thursday events in any season, the overall
minimum expenditure is $10,000, plus service charge
and sales tax.
-
For Friday and Sunday events in Regular and Low Season, the overall minimum
expenditure is $15,000, plus service charge and
sales tax. For Friday and Sunday events in Premium Season, the overall minimum
expenditure is $20,000, plus service charge and
sales tax
-
For Saturday events in Low Season, the overall minimum expenditure
is $15,000, plus service charge and sales tax. For Saturday events in Regular Season, the overall minimum expenditure
is $20,000, plus service charge and sales tax. For Saturday events in Premium Season, the overall minimum expenditure
is $25,000, plus service charge and sales tax.
-
During certain times of year, a higher minimum
(usually $20,000) applies even on weekdays. This
usually includes the time between Christmas and
New Year's, as well as some of the 3-day weekend
holidays.
-
Food & beverage, flowers, décor, music,
entertainment, photography/videography services,
special transportation, spa services, ceremony site
fee and any other wedding day services provided
by the Walt Disney World Resort and Disney's Fairy
Tale Weddings apply toward reaching or exceeding
this minimum.
Food & Beverage Minimum Expenditure
-
For all locations except Disney's Grand Floridian
& Spa, a minimum of $75.00 per person, plus
20% service charge and 6.5% sales tax will apply
to functions beginning prior to 2:00 pm and a minimum
expenditure of $100.00 per person, plus 20% service
charge and 6.5% sales tax will apply to functions
beginning after 2:00 pm.
-
Disney's Grand Floridian & Spa has a minimum
food & beverage expenditure of $100.00 per person,
plus 20% service charge and 6.5% sales tax for functions
beginning prior to 2:00 pm and a minimum expenditure
of $125.00 per person, plus 20% service charge and
6.5% sales tax for functions beginning after 2:00
pm.
Room Night Minimum
-
Based on your number of guests, you must guarantee
a minimum number of hotel room nights at Walt Disney
World owned and operated resorts:
- If you have 1-40 guests, your party must
book at least 25 room nights.
- If you have 41-75 guests, your party must
book at least 50 room nights.
- If you have 76 or more guests, your party
must book at least 75 room nights.
-
Any combination of your own and your guests' reservations
can be used to meet the minimum. For instance, if
your requirement is 25 room nights and the couple
getting married stay 7 nights, one set of parents
stay 7 nights, the maid of honor stays 5 nights
and the best man stays 6 nights, that would meet
the minimum.
-
Rooms can be booked directly with Disney, or through
a travel agent. You
can use any available resort discount, including
those offered to Wishes Collection participants
(see below) or other discount such as AAA,
Annual Passholder
or Florida resident.
You can even use DVC points
to book rooms if you wish. If guests book on their
own, that's fine -- the reservation still counts
toward your minimum. Just get their reservation
numbers and report those to your event coordinator.
-
Usually you'll be asked to select three specific
hotels for your guests (one Value resort, one Moderate
resort and one Deluxe resort) and some rooms will
be held at each hotel for your group. Discounts
are offered to Wishes Collection participants on
the hotel rooms: usually 10% off Value Resorts;
15% off Moderates, Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom
Lodge and Polynesian; and 30% off Contemporary,
Boardwalk, Beach/Yacht Club and Grand Floridian.
-
If your group doesn't meet the minimum (a VERY
rare situation), you will be charged for the extra
nights, but Disney will charge you the lowest rate
at which you had rooms held (i.e. the discounted
Value Resort rate).
Additional Costs
The officiant is not included in the
package and must be separately booked by the couple.
Disney will provide a list of "preferred"
officiants. If you choose to use your own officiant
(not someone from the "preferred" list), that
person will be added to your guest count.
The following items are also not included:
invitations, personal items like your wedding
dress, tux rental/purchase, hair/makeup, and travel
expenses such as the cost of getting to Orlando
and your honeymoon
costs.
Additionally, you may choose to add various
options to enhance your wedding celebration, such as
a rehearsal
dinner, a fireworks
cruise, a "Mad
Hatter" tea party, or an IllumiNations
Dessert Party.
